About the Sioux City Community School District:

The Sioux City Community School District, located in Sioux City, Iowa, exists to educate students to believe in their talents and skills, achieve academic excellence, and succeed in reaching their full potential. As the third largest school district in Iowa, Sioux City Community Schools includes approximately 15,000 remarkable students and 2,400 dedicated staff.

The District serves students in three high schools, three middle schools, and 13 elementary schools, plus a K-12 virtual school and career academy for post-secondary education and career exploration. A district with more than 40 home languages, Sioux City Community Schools has the second highest percentage of ESL students among all Iowa school districts. Approximately 70% of the District’s students qualify for free and reduced meals every year.

With state-of-the-art facilities, including 19 completed building projects in recent years, the District prides itself on high student achievement while maintaining one of the lowest cost-per-student rates among urban Iowa schools. All three district high schools were recognized in the 2022 Iowa AP Index for administering an average of one AP test per graduate, compared to the state AP index of 0.55.

Sioux City Community Schools’ graduation rate is over 90%, one of the highest rates of schools statewide. The District has been designated as one of only 100 Future Ready school districts across the country by the United States Department of Education and recognized as a District of Distinction for the implementation of its Sioux City Career Academy, which serves 17 high schools in the tri-state region through more than 30 career pathways.

In recent years, the Sioux City Community School District has implemented specialty magnet concepts in five of the District’s elementary schools and received national recognition for the implementation of bullying programs throughout its schools. Strong community support for the District is strengthened by the District’s collaboration with the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation, which seeks to enhance public education in Sioux City.

Requirements:

The salary will be in the range of $240,000 - $260,000 plus an excellent comprehensive benefits package. The final salary for the successful candidate will be negotiated and determined based upon proven experience, qualifications, and meeting Board criteria.
