ABOUT THE OSKALOOSA COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Education is prominently on display in Oskaloosa Schools , whether students are showcasing their award-winning orchestra or band programs, competing nationally in student council and robotics, or visiting China’s Heibei Province through our international exchange program.
The District enjoys strong community support. Our 2,000 students are served in state-of-the-art air-conditioned facilities, which are currently being updated by $14 million in construction due to overwhelming citizen support for a local option sales tax. Elementary students receive the benefits of learning in one comprehensive facility serving K-5 grade students. Oskaloosa Middle School, grades 6-8, and Oskaloosa High School, grades 9-12, are located on a single campus, split by the George Daily Auditorium, a 695-seat facility for student and community use. Eight professional off-Broadway productions, the Oskaloosa Schools Performing & Fine Arts programs, and a year-round children’s theater program are all supported from this venue that averages over 200 events annually.
The District offers an Alternative Learning Center for senior high students, career & technical readiness classes through Indian Hills Community College, Advanced Placement coursework through William Penn University, and free 4-year-old preschool to prepare our youngest students for school readiness. Our preschool students are privileged to learn in a state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center that is connected to a recreation center constructed by the City of Oskaloosa in 2021. The District also supports a robust Home School Assistance Program as well as the Oskaloosa Virtual Academy to help serve additional students in the community wishing an alternative educational experience.
ABOUT OUR CITY

A high-speed fiber optic system delivers world-class, gigabit communication solutions, capable of growing with the changes and demands of our schools, business, and families. Our historic downtown is a hub for shopping, dining, live music, and seasonal events, and has been voted one of America’s Most Beautiful Downtowns by Travel & Leisure magazine. The County takes great pride in its efforts to preserve the local environment, the area arts community, and the honorable traditions of our Native American history. Wellness and learning are a priority, evidenced by our state-of-the-art hospital and schools. Walkers and bikers love our 15-mile trail and, with more than 200 acres of sports facilities, all you need is a bat or ball to get into the game!
